Privacy Policy

1. Introduction

Ice Time ("the App") is a personal hockey stats tracker for iOS, operated by Aly Haji ("we," "us," or "our"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use Ice Time, how we use and store it, and the choices you have.

By using Ice Time, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy. If you have any questions, contact us at icetimestatsapp@gmail.com.

2. Information We Collect

Account information

When you create an account, we collect:

  • Name
  • Email address
  • Profile picture (if you choose to add one)

You can sign in using Sign in with Apple or an email and password. If you use Sign in with Apple, Apple may share your name and email (or a private relay email address) with us according to your choices during sign-in. Passwords are handled by our authentication provider (Supabase Auth) and are never stored by us in plain text. Your sign-in session is stored securely in the iOS Keychain on your device.

Hockey profile

You may optionally provide hockey-specific details for your profile:

  • Position
  • Jersey number
  • Shooting hand

Activity data

The core of Ice Time is the data you log yourself: your skates, the stats and notes associated with them, the rinks connected to your skates (including any rinks you save or set as your home rink), rink suggestions you submit, and the friends you connect with in the App. This information is stored so we can show your skate history, seasonal summaries, and stat visualizations.

Location

Location access is foreground-only. Ice Time requests your location only while you are using the App, for two purposes: to find rinks near you when you search, and to suggest the rink you're at when you log a skate. We do not track your location in the background, we do not store your raw GPS coordinates — only the rink you choose is saved with a skate — and your location is never used for advertising or profiling.

Microphone & voice search

If you use voice search in the Rinks tab, Ice Time uses Apple's speech recognition to convert your speech to text. Audio is used only to produce the search query and may be processed by Apple as part of its speech recognition service. We do not store your audio recordings. Voice search is optional — you can always type instead — and microphone and speech recognition permissions can be revoked at any time in iOS Settings.

3. What We Don't Collect

  • We do not use third-party analytics or crash-reporting services.
  • We do not show ads or use advertising trackers.
  • We do not sell your personal information to anyone.

4. How We Use Your Information

We use the information described above to:

  • Create and maintain your account and authenticate you;
  • Display your skate log, seasonal summaries, and stat visualizations;
  • Let you find rinks near your current location when you search;
  • Enable the Friends feature, so you and your friends can see each other's recent stats;
  • Respond to support requests and communicate with you about the App.

5. How Your Information Is Shared

Your stats and profile details may be visible to users you connect with as friends inside the App. We do not otherwise share your personal information with third parties, except with the service providers described below or where required by law.

6. Where Your Data Is Stored

Ice Time uses Supabase as its backend platform. Your account information, hockey profile, and activity data are stored in a database hosted by Supabase on servers located in Canada, and are encrypted in transit. Supabase processes this data on our behalf to provide authentication, data storage, and syncing for the App. You can learn more about Supabase's own practices in the Supabase Privacy Policy.

If you use Ice Time from outside Canada, your data is transferred to and stored in Canada as described above.

7. Data Retention & Deletion

We keep your data for as long as your account is active so the App can show your full skate history. If you delete your account, your personal information and activity data are removed from our production systems.

You can delete your account directly in the App from the Account page. You can also request deletion by emailing icetimestatsapp@gmail.com from the email address linked to your account.

8. Your Rights & Choices

  • Access and correction: You can view and edit your profile information directly in the App.
  • Location: You can revoke Ice Time's location permission at any time in iOS Settings. Nearby rink search and rink auto-detection will stop working, but the rest of the App is unaffected.
  • Microphone & speech: You can revoke microphone and speech recognition permissions at any time in iOS Settings; voice search will stop working but typed search is unaffected.
  • Deletion: You can delete your account in the App or request deletion by email, as described above.

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under applicable privacy laws (such as Canada's PIPEDA). To exercise any of these rights, contact us at icetimestatsapp@gmail.com.

9. Children's Privacy

Ice Time is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

10. Security

We take reasonable measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections between the App and our backend, industry-standard authentication through Sign in with Apple and our authentication provider, and database-level access rules that restrict your data to you and the friends you've connected with. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your data using appropriate safeguards.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the effective date at the top of this page. Continued use of the App after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
